His son finally shot himself because of Stalin’s harshness toward him, but survived. After this, Stalin said «He can’t even shoot straight».
«The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic».

«It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything».

«Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas».

«Gratitude is a sickness suffered by dogs».

Death solves all problems – no man, no problem.

«It is true that liberty is precious; so precious that it must be carefully rationed».

Without hesitation Lenin placed on the agenda the question of changing the social status of those whom he disparagingly called the petty bourgeoisie, i.e., small manufacturers and farmers. He stated openly:

«The major goal of the revolution now is to fight against these two remaining classes. In order to get rid of them, we have to use methods other than those used in the struggle against the big landowners and capitalists» (Vladimir Lenin, Collected Works, vol. 44, p. 3

But in an unscheduled newscast on Moscow radio shortly after 1200GMT, Russia claimed to have «crushed the forces of reactionary conspiracy against the Hungarian people».

«Keeping new people is no benefit,» so the Khmer Rouge slogan went; «Losing them is no loss.»

ΠΟΛ ΠΟΤ

I want you to know that everything I did, I did for my country.

I did not join the resistance movement to kill people, to kill the nation. Look at me now. Am I a savage person? My conscience is clear.

ΜΑΟ

Mao Zedong summarized the purpose of the Cultural Revolution
«…after the chaos the world reaches peace, but in 7 or 8 years, the chaos needs to happen again.»

Before the CCP was in power, Mao Zedong wrote
«We definitely do not apply a policy of benevolence to the reactionaries and towards the reactionary activities of the reactionary classes [7].»

The CCP developed further the dark side of Marx’s theory. Mao Zedong said

«The social scum and hoodlums have always been spurned by the society, but they are actually the bravest, the most thorough and firmest in the revolution in the rural areas.»[2]

But Mao gave such «unruly» actions a full approval, saying

«To put it bluntly, it is necessary to create terror for a while in every rural area, or otherwise it would be impossible to suppress the activities of the counter-revolutionaries in the countryside or overthrow the authority of the gentry. Proper limits have to be exceeded in order to right a wrong, or else the wrong cannot be righted… Many of their deeds in the period of revolutionary action, which were seen as going too far, were in fact the very things the revolution required.» [2]

«What can Emperor Qin Shihuang brag about? He only killed 460 Confucian scholars, but we killed 46,000 intellectuals. There are people who accuse us of practicing dictatorship like Emperor Qin Shihuang and we admit it all. It fits the reality. It is a pity that they did not give us enough credit, so we need to add to it.» [2]

At one point, Mao writes to Zhou Enlai and others:
«If there is a failure in the conventional war in North China, we will not be responsible; but if the guerrilla struggle fails, we will bear serious responsibility.»
